A Week with No Builds

Salmon River - Riggins ID
No build log this week. I spent it in Riggins, Idaho, on the Salmon River, and didn't open a laptop.
I love the pace of what I get to work on right now. Things get built in an afternoon. Some of them are replaced a month later by something better, and that's part of the fun. It's fast, it's exciting, and it's a little addictive.
Riggins is the opposite of that. The rock in the Seven Devils is a couple hundred million years old. The river has been cutting the same canyon for longer than there have been people to look at it. Nothing out there is in a hurry, and none of it cares what I shipped last week.

Seven Devils from Heavens Gate - Idaho
It was my first real wilderness trip. I'd planned to run the trails. I kept stopping. Partly the altitude, mostly because I couldn't move through a place that size without standing still to look at it.

I don't think one of these is better than the other. The speed is energizing. It makes me feel like anything is possible this week. The vastness does something different. It makes this week feel small, in a good way. I needed both, and I'd been running on only one for a while.
I'm coming back rested and ready to get at it. Build logs resume next week.
